SHSG at the forefront at delivering healthcare and support to Corona Patients

The pandemic hit hard, but for one family, it was even worse. Imagine a small house with just two rooms, filled with twelve people. All of them had Covid-19. A woman’s husband, her seven-year-old son, and her elderly parents were all sick. Her pregnant sister-in-law stayed in one room while the rest of the family crowded into the other. They couldn’t leave the house, full of fear and worry.

The family’s trouble started when the woman’s husband showed serious Covid-19 symptoms. His condition got worse quickly, and they needed help urgently. They were also facing money problems due to demonetization. The husband had serious breathing problems, a high fever, and extreme tiredness. He needed immediate medical care. At the Covid Care Center set up by Serve Humanity Serve God (SHSG), doctors found the husband had severe pneumonia. His oxygen levels were very low, and he needed extra oxygen and intensive care. Doctors did many tests, including chest X-rays, blood tests, and a Covid-19 test. The results showed he had a severe COVID-19 infection affecting his lungs.

The husband received antiviral medicines, steroids to reduce swelling, and antibiotics to prevent other infections. He had chest compressions and fluid removal to help with his lung issues. He also needed blood transfusions due to severe anemia caused by the virus. The family was told to stay in strict quarantine, drink plenty of fluids, and eat healthy to boost their immune systems. The SHSG team planned regular check-ups to monitor the husband’s recovery and provided the medicine services for ongoing support.

The husband’s condition slowly improved with the right care and medicines. His oxygen levels and fever got better. After seven days, he was much stronger, and his breathing improved. By the end of his stay at the SHSG Covid Care Center, his Covid-19 test was negative. He left the center healthy, filled with hope and gratitude.

This case shows how important timely medical help and community support are during a crisis. The SHSG team’s hard work was key in helping the husband and his family recover. The family struggled with money issues and limited medical facilities. The large number of Covid-19 cases made it hard to get timely medical help.
